Dear friends,

Soweto is a slum of 5,000 people situated outside Jinja, Uganda. Most of these people have been displaced due to the violence in Northern Uganda led by Joseph Kony and the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). Although most of the violence has stopped for some years, refugees seeking safety are now living in piles of trash. The conditions in Soweto are deplorable and there is great need for the quality of life to improve.

As a valued partner, we are excited to share with you that we have chosen this community because we believe in the great work God is doing there. There is a great need and we cannot complete this work on our own. It will take great leadership, partnerships, planning, and most importantly your prayers to improve the quality of life in Soweto.

Please pray for the children Soweto! They need much more than clean water! They need hugs and kisses and to believe again! They have experienced much grief through the years of violence and often re-live the memories. They need hope, the hope that comes from God through our Lord Jesus Christ!

“Behold, children are a gift of the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.”

(‭Psalms‬ ‭127‬:‭3‬ NASB)
